Weekly Games are the core activity of Wizards & Warlords.

Each week, players take part in a large-scale fantasy battle where two sides compete to achieve objectives, complete contracts, and secure victory for their allies. These battles represent missions, conflicts, opportunities offered by Benefactors, and other events occurring within and around the Free City of Tanyth.

While combat plays a major role, victory is not always determined by defeating the opposing side. Many scenarios involve capturing objectives, escorting important targets, recovering artefacts, defending locations, or completing other mission-specific goals.

Every game contributes to your character's ongoing story, helping them earn experience, reputation, wealth, and influence within Tanyth.

== How a Weekly Game Works ==
Every weekly game chapter follows the same core structure, from player registration and team selection through to battle formats and rewards.

=== Arrival and Registration ===
Players must purchase a ticket for that chapter's game and sign in upon arrival before participating.

New players must complete a short induction covering safety, combat rules, spellcasting, sportsmanship, and other important information before participating in their first game. See [[New Player Guide|New Players]] for more information.

Players using new or modified weapons, shields, or armour are required to have their equipment inspected before participating.

=== Team Selection ===
Games are fought between two opposing Companies who each lead a side for the evening. These Companies go head-to-head and battle one another to win the evening.

Mercenaries and players not part of the leading Companies will be assigned to each side to ensure teams remain balanced and competitive.

=== The Briefing ===
Before each game begins, players gather for a briefing covering the scenario, objectives, special rules, and any important announcements.

This briefing explains what each side is trying to achieve and any unique rules that apply to that night's game.

=== The Battle ===
Once the game begins, both sides work to achieve their objectives while battling the enemy team.

Games are overseen by Marshals who manage safety, answer rules questions, resolve disputes, and ensure the game runs smoothly.

A short halftime break occurs between halves to allow players to rest, rehydrate, and prepare for the next half.

=== Victory and Rewards ===
At the end of the game, the winning side is determined based on the objectives completed during the scenario.

Characters receive rewards such as Experience, Reputation, Copper, and other story-related benefits and items based on the outcome of the game.

The results of each battle are uploaded to the online record of character achievements. 

=== Pack Down ===
At the end of the night, all players are expected to assist with pack down where possible. This includes returning loan equipment, helping move terrain and game assets, and participating in a final sweep of the battlefield to collect any remaining equipment or rubbish.

== Before Your First Game ==
* Read the core game rules before attending. If you're new, start with [[Safety Rules]].
* You do not need a character to participate.
* If you have a character, you must nominate which one you are playing before the game begins.

== Behind the Scenes ==
Each Wizards & Warlords chapter is managed by a Chapter Head and supporting staff who are responsible for preparing the battlefield, creating or running scenarios, conducting equipment inspections, ensuring player safety, and maintaining game records.

While individual chapters may operate slightly differently, all weekly games follow the same core rules and structure to provide a consistent experience across the campaign.
